We are a Taylor’s working Lodge who meet four times a year at the Civil Service Club, Great Scotland Yard, in Central London, where we also dine after meetings.
Our Lodge was consecrated on the 19th December 1923 following the issue of our Warrant on the 9th October 1923.
The members of Elia Lodge 4590 together with many guests, recently celebrated their centenary at a special meeting held at Bakers’ Hall, London on Tuesday the 16th January 2024. The meeting was attended by a delegation from Metropolitan Grand lodge, including the guest of honour W. Bro. Michael Todd AMetGM.
Following the presentation of the Centenary Warrant by W. Bro. Michael Todd AMetGM our centenary master, W. Bro. Ray Wakeman, was also presented with a 50-year long service certificate for his outstanding services to the craft in general and Elia lodge in particular.
Like many Lodges throughout the years Elia has experienced the highs and lows of membership but a recent resurgence in numbers bodes well as they journey forward into their second century.
Further details of our centenary celebrations will shortly be posted in the ‘about’ section of our website.

to contact our Secretary (see contact section) if you have an interest in joining
Freemasonry and our Lodge in particular.

of the months of September to May at Mark Mason’s Hall, situated at 86 St James’s Street, Central
London.
We are also affiliated to Elia Chapter 4590 who meet at Southgate Masonic Centre, in North London three times a year, again visitors or those Master Masons thinking of joining the Royal Arch will of course be most welcome, again contact our Secretary for further information.
Why join
Freemasonry is about sharing a common desire for charitable support and following a strict moral code based on the three core principles of Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth and thus improving oneself and others. Membership of our fraternity is open to men of any race, religion, political belief or status.
One of the most common misconceptions about Freemasonry, and there are of course many of them, is that you must be invited to join. In fact, there is absolutely no reason why you should not ask to join, please feel free to contact us if you find the contents of our website of interest.
Elia lodge regular meetings are held four times a year, during the late afternoon, on the second Wednesday in March (Installation), the first Wednesday in May, the third Tuesday in September and the second Monday in November. All meetings are followed by a festive board at the same location, thereby combining a ceremony in a Masonic Temple followed by convivial dining thereafter.

You can help with research to understand Parkinsons
Researchers at University College London want to understand the proteins that build up in the brains of people with Parkinson’s. This knowledge could help develop more accurate and targeted treatments for people with Parkinson’s in the future. They are looking for both healthy volunteers and people with Parkinson's aged 50 - 80 to take part in their study.

Near Capacity Grand Temple as Over 300 London Brethren Honoured at 2025 London Grand Rank Investiture
On Wednesday 5 November 2025, the Grand Temple was close to bursting at the seams as London came together for the annual London Grand Rank and London Rank Investiture. This year marked the second outing of the new format, and its success was unmistakable: an afternoon session, formally “called off”, allowed hundreds of friends and family to attend and witness their favourite Masons being invested. The galleries of the Grand Temple were filled to the rafters with proud guests - a joyous, supportive atmosphere that has quickly become a defining hallmark of the revised structure.
